Summer camps are more than the summers and the activities. A great summer camp creates memories which can be relished for a lifetime. But choosing the right summer camp is indeed a task and it must be done meticulously, to ensure that the time spend by your kid there is not compromised.
Of course while choosing a camp; you would not want to stray too far away from home. But nevertheless, it is recommended to talk to camp directors and teachers in your area before signing up for one. The best camps want to know you and your requirements before letting you enroll for one. They are very communicative and at any point of time, won’t hesitate to give information about your kid. But while choosing one, make sure to consider these things without fail:
- First consider the history of a camp. Any organization which has been running for long with the same staff has to have quality. Do consider for how many years they are in the field and take opinions of the teachers and staff working there if possible.
- Then consider the main focal point of the camp. Does it stress on learning, sports, math or any moral quality like leadership? It is vital to go through their curriculum and ensure that all the virtues are in the right amount.
- The great camps often believe in providing an environment that develops a sense of brotherhood and friendliness amongst the other kids.
- Also the staff must be well – trained and experienced. The camps must have low teacher to students’ ratio so that individual attention is maintained.
- It is recommended if the camp creates a sense of choice with the kid, by helping him / her choose some activities or tasks themselves. This creates a sense of independence.
- They are communicative and pre – plan the events beforehand. In an event of something happening to the child, they must be immediate to inform the parent and attend to any care if required.
- Make sure to prefer camps that are accredited. You can go through their brochures and research about the quality certificates they might have got.
